Macron denounces Hamas's "limitless inhumanity" after the release of videos of Israeli hostages held in Gaza

"Abject cruelty, limitless inhumanity: this is what Hamas embodies. The unbearable images […] showing Israeli hostages held in Gaza are a horrific reminder of this," wrote the French president, who stressed that "the absolute priority and imperative for France is the immediate release of all the hostages."
Abject cruelty, limitless inhumanity: this is what Hamas embodies. The unbearable images broadcast this morning, showing Israeli hostages held in Gaza, are a horrific reminder of this.
We are thinking with emotion of Evyatar David, of Rom Braslavski, of all the hostages...

The head of state said he was thinking "with emotion of Evyatar David, of Rom Braslavski, of all the hostages still being held, as well as of their families and loved ones who have been plunged into hell for more than 660 days."
The publication since Thursday by Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad of three videos showing Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, emaciated, has revived the debate in Israel on the need to reach an agreement as quickly as possible to free the hostages.
Emmanuel Macron promises to continue "to act tirelessly" to "obtain this unconditional release, to reestablish the ceasefire without delay, and to allow the massive delivery of humanitarian aid, still blocked at the gates of Gaza."
Meanwhile, Paris is continuing its airdrop operations, which began Friday. A total of 40 tons of food is to be dropped by France on the Palestinian territory, which is threatened with "general famine," according to the UN.
Emmanuel Macron, who announced at the end of July that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September, also reiterated the need for a "political solution for the day after. This solution is that of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace."
